The old problem with doubles
Plenty of people want to enter doubles and never do, for one reason: no partner. The friends who play are free on different days, or the levels are too far apart, and in the end it is singles or nothing. Match Me, in THE SET.'s sessions, exists for exactly this.
The idea is short. You give your level and how you want to play; the club finds a partner who fits from the people who asked the same way; the team looks at every pair before confirming it; and a chat opens so the two of you can talk before the day.
Step one: ask at the session
Match Me sits on the session's page in the app, for the sessions that offer it, with its price shown there per person, separate from the session fee. Press Match Me and there are two things to answer.
The first is your playing level, on the NTRP scale from 1.0 to 7.0. Rate yourself as you actually play: this number is what the club uses to find a pair all four players will enjoy. Rate too high and your partner carries the game; rate too low and your partner cannot keep up. Either way the match stops being fun.
The second is how you want to play. Let the club choose, or ask for a mixed, men's or women's pair, and say whether you want it competitive or social. The men's, women's and mixed options read the sex on your profile; if you have not given it, letting the club choose still works as normal.
Step two: wait, then the team confirms
Once the request is sent, its status reads waiting to be matched. While it does, you can still take the request back, if you change your mind or find a partner yourself.
When the system proposes a pair that fits, the status changes to waiting for the team to confirm. From that point the request can no longer be taken back, because the other person is waiting on the same answer. A member of the team looks at the proposed pair and confirms it; the system never confirms on its own.
If no pair comes together this time, or the club undoes a pair it made, the app tells you and lets you ask again. Nothing is lost.
Step three: matched
Once confirmed, a private chat opens between the two of you. Use it for the simple things before the day: which side each of you prefers, who serves or receives first, who likes to come to the net. A pair that has talked for ten minutes beforehand plays together noticeably sooner than one meeting for the first time at the court.
The rule to know before you press, and the app shows it before the request goes: once matched, the pairing is final. No re-match, no swapping partners, and no refund after the match is made. Your place in that session, once paired, can no longer be withdrawn either, even before the reservation's own deadline. The reason is plain: the other person entered that session because you were their partner.
What Match Me costs
Match Me has a price of its own, per person, shown on the session in the app separately from the session fee, because it is a pairing service rather than an entry. You see the figure before you press, and again in the session's booking summary.
Once matched, this fee is not refunded, like the place in the session. If no pair comes together this time, or the club undoes one, nothing is charged, because the service has not happened.
Before you press
Check your calendar before you ask, not after you are matched: once paired, your withdrawing leaves someone else without a partner on match day.

If you want a close game, choose competitive; if you have come to meet new people and enjoy the play, choose social. Neither is wrong, but the partner you get will have chosen the same as you, so choosing what you really want matters.
