What usually happens when you find a partner yourself
The old way of finding a partner usually starts in a big group chat. Someone posts that they are free, someone else messages them privately, and the two swap numbers to carry on. On the day you may get to play, or you may not, but the number you gave cannot be taken back, and the person who received it no longer remembers who was who.
For many people, especially those who have just started playing or just moved to the city, that step of swapping numbers is exactly what stops them from beginning. Being paired with someone you do not know is one thing. Giving your number to someone you do not know is another.
In the app, start to finish
When the team confirms your pair, the private chat between the two of you opens inside THE SET. app itself, not in LINE and not by text message, and nobody has to type a number for anyone. What your partner sees is the name you set on your profile and the picture you chose.
If you would rather talk, the call button is in that chat. The call runs entirely through the app, never through the phone network. The other end sees only your name in the app, never a number, and when you hang up there is no number left in anyone's call history.
This is not a setting you have to switch on. It is how Match Me by THE SET. works by default, because good pairing should make people willing to ask, and people are willing to ask when they know they give nothing away first.
What the club uses, and does not
To make a pair, the club uses the level you rated yourself, how you want to play, and the sex on your profile when you ask for a mixed, men's or women's pair. That is all. No phone number, email or address is passed to your partner, and your partner does not see those details of yours either.
While a request is still with the team, the other person does not know who you are. Names and pictures appear to each other only once the pair has been confirmed.
If it does not feel right, there is a way out at once
The chat and the calls with your partner carry the same tools as every other chat in the app: block, when you want no further contact, and report, when there is something the team should know. Both are done from the chat screen, with no explanation owed to the other person.
Blocking does not change the pairing or the place in the session, because the rule of Match Me by THE SET. still stands. But the team sees every report, and where something genuinely has to change, the team decides, never the system.
A number given when you want to give it
Plenty of pairs finish match day and become regular hitting partners. Whether they swap numbers then is up to the two of them. What Match Me by THE SET. does is make sure that decision comes after you know each other, not before.
